Artist's statement:

"In the weeks immediately following the horrendous terror attacks of September 11, 2001, thousands of hate crimes against those who 'look Arab' were reported all across the U.S.

In order to help counter such intolerance, I created a portrait of an Islamic woman, combining my drawing with the words "I am not the Enemy."

I reproduced my artwork as a series of street posters and flyers that were widely circulated in Los Angeles and beyond."
