Invasion Fallout & Saloot to Looting

In observance of the second anniversary of the March 19th “Shock and Awe” invasion and occupation of Iraq, Track 16 Gallery in Santa Monica California will present a group exhibition, Fear Dust: Fallout of the Invasion. Artists included are, Karl McDade, Earnest Merritt, Sheila Pinkel, Max Schumann, Monica Van den Dool, Yoko Ono, and Shari Hatt among others.

The exhibition will run from March 19th, 2005 through April 16, 2005, with an opening reception on March 19th from 6 to 9 P.M. People in LA are encouraged to attend the mass demonstration for peace scheduled for noon at the famous intersection of Hollywood & Vine, and then attend the art exhibition in the evening.

The next day the gallery will be hosting a special Invasion Anniversary Event: Saloot to Looting! In the words of Track 16, the happening will “commemorate the second anniversary of the looting of the Iraqi Art Museums, we invite the public to help themselves to any and all unguarded treasures in our installation space on Sunday, March 20 from 8 to high noon. Two items per person. Staff on duty to prevent fist fights.”
