This detail from the Hiroshima Panels by Iri and Toshi Maruki depicts a young mother with her baby engulfed in atomic fire. The artist's wanted to to convey that "all and all were at once devoured by a flame of vermillion."

The Maruki's said that "this is a traditional Japanese technique with which to paint flames."
