What makes this drawing so upsetting is that at first glance it appears to be nothing more than a young girl at play. Kimura Sadako did this terrifying drawing of a young girl in Hiroshima - her skin below the waist a mass of severe burn wounds. The girl's dress is in shreds, her hair literally stands on end, and her body language speaks not of play... but of frenzy and panic. Miss Kimura was 45 when she witnessed this gruesome incident in 1945.
