I
memorialized L.A.'s famous Whisky a Go Go club in this pen
and ink drawing. I included the Dead Kennedys/Wall of Voo
Doo marquee along with the ubiquitous LAPD black and white
squad car.
A
regular at the Whisky, I saw the Ramones, Gang of Four,
Blondie, Germs, Screamers, X, and other groundbreaking bands
play the venue.
In
the psychedelic 60's, the "Whisky" was a world
famous nightclub where the The Doors and The Seeds would
play. But by the time the late 70's came along, a whole
new generation of disaffected youth were yearning for something
new.
