(Dawn) Vallen created this painting especially for Workers of the World, an exhibit organized by the A Shenere Velt Gallery in West Hollywood, California. He chose to create a painting depicting a scene of workers engaged in a strike. Artist's statement: "My artwork portrays a group of workers huddled in the early morning light as they prepare for the day's rallies and picket lines. As is the case with most of my art, the scene rendered is an authentic glimpse of the streets of Los Angeles, yet at the same time it reflects a common struggle from across the nation and indeed the world." |
